Jade Plant in Milk Glass

In my newlywed days I had a jade plant that suffered greatly from overwatering--it dropped all its leaves and ended up a sad bare stalk. I'm going to try again with this one. My orchids have taught me to trust the "water sparingly" directions, which go against my nurturing instincts. Less is more, perhaps, for these succulents.

  1. I am finding that light is also very helpful for my jade plant. I love your milk glass.

  2. Just had to comment - been a long time reader. I have the very same milk glass dish, but with a hoya plant. :-) I also have putting mismatched vintage saucers/small plates under my milk glass with plants. I enjoy reading your blog!

  3. I love your milk glass too,I'm always on the lookout! Pretty green against the milky white. I tend to overwater also. Best of luck with it.

  4. Good luck with it this time, Anna! I think jades can be one of the prettiest plants, when they're healthy & growing well. Like you, I've had my share of failures growing one of these; then, after realizing that my care was all wrong, had a jade that lived for about 10 years...it was huge! Unfortunately, a move killed it. How I tried to nurse it along, but it would have none of it.

  5. Lovely photo. I should raise succulents -- perhaps they can survive my sporadic watering...

  6. I was recently gifted a beautiful Jade baby from a dear friend. I was debating on what to do with it and love this look! I have plenty of milk glass to choose from. Thank you for inspiring the new home of my baby. :)
