Ruminant Nurse

Daisy is currently engrossed in the Cherry Ames series. Cherry Ames, Rural Nurse. Cherry Ames, Private Duty Nurse. Etc.

Excellent preparation for being a nurse all this morning. The neighbor brought over a baby who had gotten too cold and weak and seemed to be dying.

Several hours by a *hot* fire, constant respiration and "rumen motility" checks, and droppers full of goats' milk, and he returned to health.

Thanks to Daisy, Ruminant Nurse.

  1. Well done Daisy! I was once a Lepidoptera nurse as a result of reading Cherry Ames, I am glad the work continues.

  6. As the Mum of two surgical nurses, she has all the grounding of excellence for this profession......or beginnings of another great 'Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet'.

  10. My older sister received these when her friend was moving. She never read them, but I never missed a word. They got damaged with a flooded basement and was able to salvage a few, but over the years I was able to buy them along the way for my children.
Wonderful story! Document every detail for them to read later!

  11. Yeah for Daisy! I LOVED Cherry Ames!!! Has she read the Beanie Malone series? Those are fabulous too! They were out of print for many years but have recently been released again. My mom read them when she was young (she is 70), and I loved them!

  13. If you haven't yet read Daisy James Herriot's Treasury for Children you must - she will adore it. In 1930's England, a tiny, frozen kitten on a remote farm saved by being popped into ...the oven! A lost lamb found in a blizzard and nursed back to health by a young girl, etc. etc. Delightful - both my children and I adore this book.

    Christmas blessings,

    Mary

  14. Mary and Jen--Daisy is already on your wavelength! She's an avid fan of Beany Malone, and has read and reread all the full-length James Herriott series.

Nice to find so many Cherry Ames fans out there!
