When we fast we place ourselves in the Not Yet, the place where we look forward to the provision of all that we need.

O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers:
Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servant Lisa the help of your power,
that her sickness may be turned into health,
and our sorrow into joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer .....

Amen, Anna. Thank you for this invite. I almost never fast because it is hard for me and I don't understand it, but the Lord taught me through this fast. Every time I felt a hunger pang, my heart was overwhelmed for the pain these women feel (Lisa, my pastor's wife, and my sister in law). It reminded me to pray for them. It gave me a glimpse into how exhausting that kind of pain is...how hard it can be to focus, to do. Lord, please grant your maidservents earthly healing.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lord hear our prayer. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.
