Daisy's Eleventh

Today we celebrated Daisy's eleventh birthday.

First, I called the midwife who delivered her to thank her (yet) again. Good job, Maureen!

Then I made miniature strawberry Pavlovas, and a flourless chocolate cake, and a lot of tiny ham sandwiches

Then Daisy had a gaggle of girls over to swim in the pool, and after dinner we had cake and presents. She got two gift cards to use at the feed store, a book about chickens, and a book about Gilbert and Sullivan. And some sealing wax.

And that's how you turn eleven.

  1. A belated happy birthday Daisy, I think eleven was one of my favourite ages. I would love to se an American feed store one day.

  2. So many wonderful photos with a story for a beautiful birthday. First off, pool side looks so relaxing; you had a Midwife? how exciting!, next: is that Clara bringing in the cake? lovely dress; and of course Daisy received a gift card to the Feed Store, how appropriate! Thank you so much for sharing, you always give us "food for thought" and how to re-think our celebrations.

  10. Happy birthday a little late Daisy. I'm not sure what a feed store stocks other than, um, feed, but I'm sure you'll spend wisely. I do believe I asked for sealing wax when I was eleven. I wanted to be Victorian. I also made a quill pen.

  11. Happy Birthday, Daisy! So sweet to watch you growing up. I think you and my Cora would make a pair. She's 12 and reading all there is about goats and loves sealing wax, too. So sorry to hear you lost your mama goat.
