Over Christmas break I cut this dress out for Clara, and sewed the collar pieces together in preparation for some elaborate embroidery--and Clara took over from there. It was her carrying-around handwork for spring semester, and then she made the dress.
She's pretty handy with the satin stitching.
And I was very impressed with the chevrons she achieved with the skirt pieces.
On plain old ticking.
A beautiful dress and a beautiful, very talented daughter.
ReplyDeleteWow! Very pretty! I have never seen a dress made from ticking before. Clara did a great job matching the stripes. A sign of a good seamstress.
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautifully done! She learned from the best! Christina

Beautiful! Love the red dots on the back collar; another lovely detail.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lovely programme here called The Great British Sewing Bee. I wonder if it is possible for you to get it. I'm sure you'd enjoy it and Clara's talent is a match for any of the contestants, although they do have a very short time limit in which to complete their tasks.
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning. The embroidery is beautiful and the dress shows amazing care and talent. Well done.
ReplyDeleteStunning--simple, but stunning in its execution. Clara has immensely good taste and great talent.
