Like Mother, Like Daughter

Today a reader asked for some inspiration to help her through the demanding years when it's you and a bunch of little people trying to make it through the day. The struggle is real.

Please, if you need help, good sense, and a wise and witty woman to help you through those years, I want you to start reading this blog. Every day.

Read the archives, read the links. Every single time I read Leila on parenting, I'm nodding along. To my mind, she gets things exactly right. It's everything I would have written out if I'd been thinking.

Now go and read.

  1. Amen. I have no children but I am drawn to all of it, for some reason.

  2. Have been reading LMLD for years - dearly love Leila's and all her beautiful daughters' posts. Good common sense combined with love of God and all His beauty - it's one of the great blessings of Internet Land.
Just like Pleasant View Schoolhouse :)

  3. I agree! I love her blog. Actually after my daughter was born, and I was stranded in my house in the dead of a snowy winter with an energetic 3 year old son who just wouldn't stop bouncing off the walls and a jaundiced newborn who spit up all over me all the time and seemed to never sleep at opportune times, I wrote Leila an email in desperation. She wrote back with wise, detailed, rock-solid advice and the best-ever line that I never forgot: "It's okay. you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that no matter how bad it seems at your house, it's nowhere near as bad as it's been at my house!"

    She is so wise.

  5. I LOVE LMLD! I read it too, so does my unmarried daughter. Leila is wonderful, both as a person and as a writer. I know the same things she does but she writes them in such a loving and patient way that you feel like you've been hugged by a loving mother.

  9. Thank you for suggesting this blog! I had never come across it before and I am enjoying the witty, honest, matter of fact advice and encouragement. And I love that Leila says her advice and tips are for people who would rather be reading a book than cleaning- that's me for sure!
