Our Man on the Ground
I'm pleased to introduce you to a new contributor here at the Schoolhouse: Our Man on the Ground in New York, Giles. He'll be providing us with photos and stories from NYC, as he runs into interesting things and takes beautiful pictures.
That will be neat. I've seen very little of NY, so I look forward to your contributions, Giles. I've learned so much from your Mom, now I can learn from you too!
I read the last post, with the model trains, before this one. Nice! I adore NYC, but am only familiar with Manhattan. As a Southerner from a farm one would think of a fish out of water, but city life is great, grand fun for me. So I look forward to expanding my horizons via Giles' lens & perspective.
If Giles gets a chance to head over to Staten Island, please have him check out the Snug Harbor Cultural Center (just blocks from where I grew up, lucky me!) It's an amazing place to take pictures - beautiful Greek Revival, Beaux Arts, Italianate and Victorian style buildings, a Chinese Scholar's Garden, and so many other beautiful things to experience. I used to trot over there almost everyday as a kid, before they made all the improvements and it was mostly a beautiful ruin in a forest. It's well worth a trip over there. http://snug-harbor.org/ Enjoy! Barb
How cool! NY is on my destination list when I eventually get to the US.
ReplyDeleteLifelong NYer here. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful photos. Welcome!
ReplyDeleteOh yea! Thanks for sharing this extra bit of loveliness from your family.
