Beautiful Little Lives

Sometimes it amazes me that we can have beautiful animals living their perfect little lives right under our feet, in our houses. Sister is tops.

  1. I know what you mean.

BTW, how's the big boy going Anna?

  2. Precious kitty! All of my animals dwell out of doors, but soon a box of newly hatched chickens will be warming under a brood lamp in our cozy basement....literally under foot.

I picked up this charming birdcage at a local vintage and antique shop. I would love to purchase a little bird to go with it, but I don't think I will be able to for a few more years. For now, the cage hangs admiringly in my vintage kitchen.

  3. Rose, he's doing nicely!

Kate, we are also looking forward to chick season. Daisy's planning a batch of Buff Orpingtons next month. What about you?

    1. We will be getting at least 6 new hens from Tractor Supply, a few Bourbon Red Turkey poults, and I am deciding on a few new bantam hen chicks. There are so many beautiful breeds to choose from. We will also hatch our own "mutts." Oh, and I need a khaki drake for my 3 khaki Campbell gabby girls.

  4. Our Maine Coon kitty, Victoria, is so lovely that I find myself thanking God for kitties quite often. I should add that Maine Coons have a character flaw. They are quite aware of their beauty.

  5. What about Fitzwilliam? Has he lost favor? I adore him even from here....

  6. Buff Orpingtons! Anna, have you ever read "A City of Bells" by Elizabeth Goudge? That's where I first heard of Buff Orpingtons - couldn't understand at first what was being referred to.

  7. Donaleen , rest easy, FW is still held in very high esteem over here. Kate, Daisy really wants ducks too! Lisa, I will look for that. If it has Buff Orpingtons, it must be good.

  8. Well, actually - they are mentioned in it; it's not about chickens at all. But it's a wonderful story!
