Vintage Inspiration: Dressing for Christmas
I love the idea of dressing to be cheery and agreeable for others to see:
"A gay little mossy green jersey dress with buttons like red berries seemed the proper frock for the occasion, and a scarlet ribbon for her hair. Or was that too coquettish? But no, not for Christmas Day, and not for children . . . "

I knew a kindred spirit when I read your sons names of Felix and Giles. I love her books! I also have "The Family Home" by Copestick by my reading chair. I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog from afar. Visit my blog when you have a minute (www.a-place-called-home.blogspot.com). It's more of a round-robin letter for my large family. Kim
I had never heard of of Mrs Hill until reading your blog. I checked a few of her books out of the library and now I love them. Thank you.
Grace Livingston Hill had a great deal to do with my philosophy of dressing to inspire. Her descriptions are delicious. I never fail to think of her books when I'm out shopping. It's been a while since I've read any GLH books; thank you for reminding me of their delight. :-)
You mentioned one time that you like the Mrs. Meyers cleaning products. I was in Tuesday Morning yesterday and they had some there. I don't know what the regular price is, but the geranium scented dishwasher soap was $5 for 64 oz.

I absolutely love that book. Unfortunately all my GLH books were jointly owned when I left home, and they stayed with my sister. (Though I'm glad she can enjoy them). Do you get yours from the library, or do you know of a place where you can buy them?
