I was thrilled to find chocolate Advent calendars at
The Vermont Country Store this year. They are perennially hard to find (and in fact are gone from the website already). I have delicious memories of my uncle sending us these from Germany every year, and tucking the chocolate into my lunch box every morning to eat later at school . . .
We had these a few times when I was growing up, but I had to share with my four siblings. Imagine having one all to myself . . .
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's not as cool as the one you got :) but mine was an impulse purchase last night (kind of a few days behind but I'm sure the kids won't mind catching up).
ReplyDeleteWe've never done Advent Calendars before - this is a first. I hope they enjoy it.
My husband was born in Germany and grew up sharing these calendars with his brother and sister. Such sweet memories (literally!).
ReplyDeleteI received a wooden advent calendar from LLBean many years ago. Since, we have had children we have been filling the little boxes with Chocolates for them. Each day they are excited to open their "after dinner" mint! My advent callendar can be used year after year....is yours the same?
ReplyDeleteI have such nice memories of these! We had one every year when I was growing up! Am going to flag Vt Country Store for future purchases when the baby is old enough to devour a daily dose of chocolate.
ReplyDeletehow fun! your's is really cute! we got some this year but it's hard to find nice ones....I hadn't thought of looking in the Vermont Country Store....
ReplyDeleteI have been visiting your blog now for a long time and I possitively love it! it is one of my faves! I love all the pictures also!! they are fabulous!
I grew up near the VT Country Store - if you haven't ever visited - it is a GREAT place.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up it was a Christmas tradition for us to have one. When we moved and could no longer find them, my mom just started giving us a piece of chocolate every day in Dec.
ReplyDeleteWe have these all over the place in my area. I wonder if it has to do with the ethnic or religious population where you live.
ReplyDeleteDear Customer,
ReplyDelete"Thank you for your generous comments about The Vermont Country Store. We always enjoy hearing from our customers and hope you will visit again soon."
Sincerely,

Oh, I love the Vermont Country Store! We visited last summer, and it was so great - huge and packed full of interesting stuff and really good food and candy. Just a tip: if you're looking for Advent Calendars with chocolate, and they're gone from VCS, I found one at a Cracker Barrel restaurant just a few days ago.
