A Girly Backpack

Simple to construct--a drawstring top with straps that are secured to the bottom of the bag, and an outside pocket (which I, don't faint, trimmed in velvet ribbon). All from Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing book. One for Clara, and one for Daisy.

Oh, the fabric? A thrifted ten-yard swath. More fun coming!

Oh, that's *so* pretty!! Where do you find all of your trims? I've looked all over for velvet ribbon, but I can't seem to find it... :(

Amazon loves you, as my wishlist has grown this year, just from visiting your sweet blog all the time. I love your purple dress. Gorgeous! Thanks for blessing me and others with your blog last year. I'm looking forward to what you'll share in 2008.

I love visiting your blog and seeing all of your creative ideas! My sister and I have started sewing fabric gift bags with ribbon used for closures instead of using the traditional paper for wrapping. They are beautiful and can be made with fabric left over from sewing projects!

Blessings for this New Year to you and your family.

Hey! I made something from Lotta's book yesterday too. Except you can't wear mine :) It was the picnic placemat. If you want to see my practice version go here:
