A Useful Apron for Clara

Here is the ubiquitous vintage cobbler's apron done up in a fun tiny calico print for Clara.

She loves wearing it as part of her outfit for the day. It has already caused her to bake two cakes!

What a neat old pattern, the fabric you chose is lovely.

Oh that is cute! I have a cobbler's apron pattern that I really must make up, and your work always inspires me :)

So pretty! I love the old fashioned look to the material, too. I just made up an apron in "chicken scratch". I'm a fairly new convert to aprons, and find that I now look for them in thrift and antique stores these days. ;o)
As always, you do such nice work.

My grandma always talks about wearing cobbler's aprons, though I never saw her in ANY apron. This is really cute!

Ooh. What fabric should I use for my daughter to make her clean two BATHROOMS?

Lovely work, as always. Thanks for sharing--

I just love this apron. My grandmother used to wear a cobbler apron when she cooked. You have inspired me to make one for myself. Thank you.

I keep meaning to make myself and my daughter aprons to wear as part of our daily "uniform" - I read a lovely article a few months back about aprons and how they can contribute to a proper attitude as we go about our daily homekeeping duties, and your comment about Clara in her cute apron reminded me of that. I have aquired the exact pattern I was hunting for and fabric, too. Today I am working on a pioneer dress and bonnet for my daughter (we are doing a homeschool unit study on Little House in the Big Woods next month with some friends) and when I finish that, I think it's time to make aprons! Thanks for the reminder. :)

We have one of those cobbler apron patterns! I can't wait to tackle it but I have some presents I need to make first...

Oh, I love it!!! I really would like one of these--I love the short style but the fact that it covers the top! (Which is always the part of me that needs covering when doing housework or cooking.)

The apron is gorgeous. i was just looking at some similar ones at the op shop this morning. I think I have been sufficiently inspired to make one instead. Or I might buy one as well to use as a pattern. hmm decisions. I agree wholeheartedly that once you put an apron on, a nice apron, you can't help but feel industrious and creative. I love them. We have a show called the collectors here on ABC in Australia, and last Friday night I was at home and watched a piece on a women who collects aprons. She has hundreds of them, many genuine vintage aprons hand embroidered. I think it's given me an excuse to expand my collection. My friends think I'm crazy, but they do love the aprons I make for them :) Hannah

Oh, I love that print. Cobbler's aprons are so comfortable and handy, with those wonderful pockets, but I need my aprons to be at least eighteen inches longer than that. I am an extremely messy cook. Oooh, inspiration has struck.
