"The Kind of Peace"

"But of course, His peace doesn't mean a sit-down, folded-hands peace, or a running-away-from-trouble peace. He meant the kind of peace that comes of standing up to trouble--even taking it on the chin . . . ."

What a treat to see Lenora Mattingly Weber's name! I have many of the Beany Malone books. I can't place this quote, though. Help me out, please? Judy

I was shocked, too, when I saw that you had a quote from one of the Beany Malone books! :)

My sister and I love them and own all of them, but we've never, ever found anyone else that likes them or has even heard of them.

Anna,
You love the books I love.I think that Lenora Mattingly Weber was one of the best authors ever. You can really 'see' her characters. I hope you are doing ok and know that you and yours are in my prayers right now.

I have always loved this quote from Beany.

I'll definitely have to pull her out of the shelves soon!

Thanks for remembering Beany, who was a role model to thousands of girls growing up in the second half of the twentieth century.

I discovered recently that there is a modern author who always makes at least one reference in each of her books to Lenora Mattingly Weber's works:

Amen! I was just reading yesterday that God doesn't say "IF you walk through the fire", He says "...WHEN (emphasis mine) you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched..." (Isaiah 43:2)

He stays with us. How loving and awesome He is! Hope you have a great day in Him.

As someone else said, these words were balm to my soul this morning. Your blog is a daily source to me of beauty and inspiration. I have been especially touched by the journey your family has taken in caring for your grandmother. I have been reading in Matthew about caring for the "least of these", whom Jesus values so highly. Your families' faithfulness to care for your grandmother was a beautiful picture of doing just that. A sister in Christ, Amy

A good quote. And by taking it on the chin you can be all the stronger for it.
