Wrapping with Thrifted Goodies
When it's time to decorate a gift package I love opening my plastic storage drawers full of goodies from the thrift store. I always keep an eye open for any tidbit that can be tied on a box--from half-empty curly paper ribbon spools to tattered plastic flowers. Not so impressive taken one at a time, but when I'm wrapping a present I can scrounge around through my supplies and come up with nice combinations.
This satin ribbon was from the thrift store (unless it's off an old gift--can't remember!), and the pale blue carnation definitely came from there for a nickel. I wrapped my gift in plain white, cut a narrow strip of pale blue vellum to go around the middle of the box, and cut out a turquoise tag. By keeping a tight color palette, my odds and ends go together nicely.

Beautiful gift! Even though I do use gift bags, I prefer wrapped packages. I, too, recycle ribbon and always keep a good stash of gift wrap (that I buy on clearance) so that I'm prepared for most any occasion.
Gorgeous! I love scrounging items to make gifts beautiful. I often find myself clipping greenery from the yard to adorn my wrapped packages rather than bows.
I love so much of your style - and this has been a little bee in my own bonnet recently - I use scraps of fabric, old lace, raffia and pieces of ribbon from random past projects for my wrapping lately... around tissue or fabric from old sheets and curtains...
my fun finish has been using the raffia through a button to secure as a centerpiece - it sounds a little hot-glue-gun crafty, but the end result has been really pretty and it makes the giving so much more fun!

Oh, I do the same thing! People always tell me I give fantastically wrapped presents...when really it's only bits of old wrapping paper, shells, things cut from newspapers and magazines, etc. I love re-using things. Presents should be beautiful and thoughtful - and that includes the packaging. So much nicer than the most 'luxury' wrapping paper from a shop.
