This is a boy I like to cook for, since he appreciates everything I put on the table. He's here for the weekend, and he likes apple pie, so we baked him one.
Oh! Delicious! What kind of apples do you usually use? I tend to go for Granny Smiths, but the MacIntoshes looked so beautiful at the market, I had to get some. Can't wait to use them! Thanks for the fall inspiration.
Oh yes, there is so much gratification when making something for someone who loves your stuff. Makes ya want to make them things all the time just so to hear their sweet compliments and see them smile.
I grew up without parents. Living on my own by 17. I never knew the first thing about cooking or family life. You seem to know so much and I so enjoy dipping into your world of this vast knowledge. Your children are so blessed to have your example. It does cause me to crave for a mother, for someone I could have learned from. I've learned some things about keeping a home and cooking a meal but there is still so much to learn and the childen are growing so quickly. It pains my heart.
Pie making is in the air today. I have two French Apple Pies cooling on the counter for company tonight. Picked the apples fresh this morning from our trees! Yum! Can't forget the homemade crusts....Enjoy yours too. Thanks for your peaceful blog. Colleen in Iowa
Anonymous, thanks for leaving your comment. Lydia at homeliving.blogspot.com has some wonderful articles for women who are just learning to be homemakers, and who feel that they've missed their chance. Very encouraging, please go take a look!
I am an evangelical Christian. I have two daughters whom I homeschool: Bella (15), and Daisy (8), and three older children: Giles (21), a college graduate, Felix (19), a college junior, and Clara (17), a college freshman. I'm 42 years old and happily married to my Dear Composer. We live in a 1920's school converted into a home, outside of town. And God is good.
Feel free to Pin my photos, but please link back to the page you found them on.
Photography
Photography is an important part of life at my house. Photos that appear here are taken by Giles, by the Composer, and by me. Giles is a real, paid photographer, and he uses a Sony Alpha. Most of the photography prior to September 2008 is his. Since then I have done most of the shooting and I use a Konica Minolta. Additionally, the Composer offers me nice shots on occasion, often from his little Canon point and shoot. I've given up trying to note who's done what. Thanks for your interest!
