The Composer Runs a Fast One
I went with the Composer to a half-marathon this morning, one he'd been training for for months. He had his carefully calculated target time, and I sat waiting and watching the finish line for him. Completely missed him because he came in way too soon!
In his own words:"It was really hard, but it was really fun."
That's it! I'm doing a half-marathon next year, and you heard it here first.

Congratulations! That's great for both of you!
You're both crazy! :) I only say so because I wish I could run like the wind. It seems that more and more people are becoming runners these days. It's so cold outside though, how do you work up the motivation to train for a marathon in the winter time?
Yes!! You can do it! The half is the farthest I've run (actually 14 I think when the dust all settled) but I plan to remedy that next year too.
Anna, if you are up to 8 miles then a half marathon will be a piece of cake. For real. Sal
Congratulations to the Composer!!!! I just did the Savannah Bridge Run yesterday and it was AMAZING. If you are ever in Savannah that time of year, you both should try it!!
I had planned to run my first half marathon (tybee) in February but found out this week I am expecting baby #4. I am hoping for 2010.
I will look forward to hearing about your training and experience!!
Run Anna run!
You can do it.
If you're not a fast runner, the longer races are actually a bit easier as you have time to settle and pace yourself a bit. Being a real slow poke, half-marathons are my favourite distance.
YES! Go, Anna, GO!
Keep us posted on the training....
Me too!! In May!! My sister is my inspiration! Good luck to you!
Good for you Anna! I decided to try a bit of running/walking on my walk a couple of weeks ago. My poor back has ached ever since. I think that means I should stick to walking (at a reasonably fast pace). I know there are grandmothers who run. This grandma is just going to have to be content with walking.
I will be happy to cheer you on from the bloggy sidelines though!
Go for it Anna! I did my first marathon this year and LOVED it. You will have so much fun. And consider a marathon relay team -- you have plenty of runners in your family to put one together.
Anna, I have been reading your blog for over a year now although I have never left a comment. I feel prompted now because I have started my own blog and I wanted you to now that yours has been a huge inspiration to me. It is so encouraging to see a woman who places a high value on her home and family life. That, as well as your faith, comes through in your blog. The past couple of years have been hard ones for us and many days I would check your blog and come away with a smile on my face. In addition to the things I have mentioned, we also have several other things in common--we have been homeschooling our 2 boys for 6 years, one of which is an avid birder. I am an artist and especially love photography. Please visit my blog if you would like to see some of my photos: thethoughtfulgardener.blogspot.com
Since I am relatively new to this, I wanted to ask your advice: I would like to post some photos of my children on my blog but wonder if it is safe--have you had any problems?
Thank you for taking the time to share your life with us--you will probably never know how many people it has touched.
I ran my first 1/2 in April, it's really not as hard as it seems. Congrats to your hubby and I hope your ready....you'll want to run more than one....they're addicting.
