Giles Finds a Christmas Tree

The kids and I were ready for a tree already! this morning, but the Composer thought he would spend Monday working. So Giles tricked Daisy and friend David out in jackets and loaded them into the pickup announcing that "This was the day he went into the woods with a hatchet and proved he was a man." He had good help from Daisy, who asssured him that she knew the perfect tree: it was the first one you saw when you looked in the pasture. I looked for myself and the first thing I saw was a cedar fifty feet tall and as wide as the house . . . .

They brought home something a little smaller, without incident. Giles thinks it was something of a Christmas Miracle.

My own brother has been known to drag home 20-foot cedars from the woods behind my parents' house. Fortunately there are vaulted ceilings in the living room! Nothing says "Christmas is coming" like the smell of cedar in the house.

That sounds wonderful. Reminds me of when I was growing up- we always had a real tree.

I guess Giles proved his manliness! It's good that he had Daisy to find the right tree. Happy Christmas to your family and thanks for all of the special touches that my family gets to enjoy due to your inspiration! (I never would have thought to secretly embroider monogramed handkerchiefs as a gift for my husband without you!)

You cut down cedar trees. Good for you! They're my favorite Christmas tree and so fragrant.

Love your account..we use to have a real tree, till our family grew and we aged a little to go artificial..now I have 3 trees in my house. Less work, but I miss the fragrance, and I live in the PineTree State, Maine.

What a beautiful tree. Did you enjoy decorating it? (what a silly question)
