A Party Night
My friend Carol turns forty this week, and we got up a surprise party for her tonight. She was *indeed* surprised, which makes all of us feel clever! We had about forty people, who all brought potluck, and we set out forty candles on the various cakes.
Then her husband, who has never played the guitar in front of anyone, sang her a song he had written. I'm picky: but this was beautiful. Like Carol.

Mmmm, those cakes look delicious!
Anna, I've given you the Lemonade Award - I know you've probably already received a gazillion other awards for your blog (you may already have been given this particular award for all I know!), but I just wanted to day that your blog has been very inspirational over the months/years that I have been reading it!
I love reading your blog too - Thank you for the fun! I was sad to see both your elephant bags had been sold - I was hoping for one!
I love the idea of having several cakes. That must have been fun to have a sample of each.
Your a great friend.
Lovely post.
I dare say that even if your friend's dear husband had not done well with his son, it still would have meant the world to your friend. And that's what important.
ooops. I meant sonG, not son. :o)
Love your blog! You've been given a blog award:)

What a beautiful evening it looks like you had. I love cake, so I would have been in heaven that night. Your friend is very lucky to have someone like you in her life.

Am I seeing candles shaped like balloons, or lollipops stuck in one of those cakes? Either one is cute!
This is a darling idea for an adult suprise birthday. Sounds completely memorable!
I am indeed lucky, incredibly blessed to have a friend like Anna.
Carol, the new forty year old.
