Sorting My Floss
In odd moments here and there I've been winding my half-used embroidery skeins onto pieces of cardstock. It's strangely satisfying, and I love seeing the big mess in the box dwindle into an ordered pile of these homemade bobbins. The inadvertent color combinations are inspiring, too, and somewhat kaleidoscopic.
If we lose our power again tomorrow, I'll do some more of this close to the fire and the window.

I know that storms are a great inconvenience to many and even dangerous for some, but I love how they slow us down, make must-dos seem not so must-doish. And, voila, embroidery floss is all nice and neat! Praying you all stay warm and safe.
And we slumber in heat. Rose
I'm inspired to organize my jumbled jar of embroidery thread bits now. Lovely way to do it.
We are now up to 15 inches of snow here in Ky. I agree a great day to do those odd jobs and maybe a little crocheting...and a nice hot cup of tea:)

Great idea.
I did the same thing with my crafting ribbons, sorting by color and re-homing in glass jars. Soothing, isn't it?

I love to just sit and sort of croon and stroke my box of floss. I have a lot of colors... from when I was into making friendship bracelets almost two decades ago!
I have everything ready and set aside to do the same thing with my floss but, so far, I just haven't had the time to do it. Maybe a power outage would be a good thing! ~Adrienne~
I've been looking through some of your other embroidery posts. Your projects look so delightful yet far from complex or overwhelming. I haven't done any hand embroidery in a long time and remember getting frustrated in the past. Do you have any how-to resources to recommend?
This is the inspiration I need. I have a floss "situation" going on in a big glass jar right now that needs some attention. I can't throw it away because much of it was my grannie's.
