Confectioner's Skirt

I made a wool skirt, as plain as a pound cake. Then I thought about that trim I had, chiffon roses mounted on a strip of netting. It was the work of five minutes to sew it around the hem.

To really make my teeth ache, I added a thrifted cotton sweater.

If I could only sew. That dress makes me want to drool. Sorry about the mess. :) I can't wait to see what is next.

Love it! Makes me hungry for Spring. I think Boden has a skirt with a similar trim, but it doesn't come in sweet, floaty cotton candy :)

Anna you are one of the people whose example has encouraged me to learn to sew. I look forward to the day I can sew anything in five minutes. :)

Its gorgeous! I wonder if the children will say that you look like a dusty pink rose in that outfit, as compared with the daffodil.

Oh, that's so pretty. I was just thinking of making a spring-colored skirt for Easter, but I never think of wool. The dry cleaning costs put me off.

I've made several wool garments this winter, and I'm washing all of them in the machine on delicate. This skirt has already gone through, even with the trim. No nasty dry cleaning!

You said it was a basic wool skirt - did you use a pattern for the skirt? It looks like a basic A-line, right? Yet, for a novice like myself, I would need a pattern even for something as basic as an A-line skirt.

Any help on the pattern?
Thanks Anna~

Mmmm....that's yummy enough to be worn by Marie Antoinette. Such a clever way to pretty up a skirt. So beautiful! :)

Just beautiful! Post a picture modeling it! Share the pattern number and be a trend-setter! I bet you'd have 34 women (the comment count so far) try to make it too! :>

Sugary sweet it may be but I love it. It's beautiful and so feminine.

JoAnn Fabrics in our town doesn't carry any wool fabrics. I was able to thrift a beautiful wool tweed skirt from a church clothing shop, and cut it down to a manageable length, and love it. You are showing me what can be done with thrift store clothing.a

The pattern is Vogue 7341--not sure if it's still in print, but it's my go-to skirt pattern in three fulnesses. The trim was purchased at Hobby Lobby by the yard--I've seen it in pink and chocolate brown. Brilliant on the thrifted skirt idea! I've got some projects like that to post soon myself!
