A Cream Wool Baby Blanket

It's been years--maybe eighteen?--since I crocheted something using soft yarn. I had my cotton thread project there for awhile, but just hadn't gotten involved in a fuzzy project.

So you know where I'm going with this, right? I got some beautiful cream wool yarn from my stash to welcome a new baby later this month. I did a large square of single crochets, then went around the outside making a row of eyelet, then I made a sort of scalloped edging. It's all very informal, but strung with a tonal satin ribbon, I think will welcome baby very well!

This is beautiful! What a nice gift! I just recently discovered your blog through a homeschool link on Ann's A Holy Experience blog and I LOVE it! I was an avid Grace Livingston Hill reader as a girl and young woman, and it has been fun to revisit that. I'm going to hunt some of those down for my 11-year-old girls to read in a couple of years. The Homeschool Heresies post of yours was brilliant! Your blog is just a beautiful place to visit, if you love children, vintage things, homeschooling and home life. Thank you for a sweet and pleasurable place to visit!

I just made the same blanket for my little grand-daughter (picture at my blog). How funny. I love simple elegance of the blanket. Have a blessed day.

I think the ribbon is a sweet touch. Beautiful!

Beautiful but I thought that the ribbon could be a stragulation hazard since the ribbon could be pulled away from the soft yarn. Denise

Hmmm, everone is assuming this is a gift - is it? Or is it to be kept in the family? Either way the blanket is beautiful and the recipient blessed by your love.
Hugs,
Patti

So pretty, and I love the photo; the chair is perfect with the cream blankie.

Beautiful, but have to go with Denise. The ribbon can work like the drawstrings on a purse, pulling up big loops that can entangle a baby.

Be careful of anything that can pull up a loop larger than (iirc), 4 or 5 inches. Even if you do not think a baby is that strong...they are surprising, and/or the blanket ribbon can get snagged and pull that way.
