Ink Drawings from Felix

Felix has moved to ink drawings in his bird journal (pencil is so last year). I came across his open notebook--chipping sparrow on the left, marsh wren on the right.

Wow! I would love a set of those to frame. We've decided to have a bird themed spare bathroom. Those would look lovely on my wall. Does Felix have any he wouldn't mind parting with?

Absolutely terrific! I was just watching our chipping sparrows Monday, or what I thought were chipping sparrows, but I noticed a yellow area where the stripes on the head are which I had never noticed before. I forgot to look it up in our bird books at work. I'll have to make a note of it.

Felix should sell those on Etsy! What beautiful note cards or framed prints they would make!

Katie suggests to Lisateresa that her sparrow might be a White Throated Sparrow.

Thank you, Katie/Southern Tulip - I looked it up on Google images, and that's it! I can't say I've ever seen it around here before, but it may be I just wasn't looking that closely.
Thanks again.

So much talent in one family just isn't fair :) Beautiful drawings, and the quilt behind it is a perfect backdrop!

He is VERY talented. He would probably love visiting our Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, New York. It is an amazing facility. I actually got to go "behind the scenes" on a special tour and view all of Peterson's "skins". An entire climate controlled room FILLED with specimens. The facility is gorgeous and I would be happy to send you a brochure if you'd like.

My word! Before I saw this, I thought I could draw birds. Now I realise I'm hopeless.

Felix is quite an artists, as well as has passion for birds.

Silly me, they both look like 'birds'. Just as well Felix knows the difference.

Thank you for sharing his beautiful art work with us all. I'm sure you can't wait to see how he further develops his God-given talents...that goes for all children, who just seem so lovely. I very much enjoy your blog.

You are so blessed with talented and intelligent kids! I hope it's ok that I've linked to this post and to the other annoucing his inclusion on the national birding team. My post is very positive in tone and shows what homeschooled teens can do. I hope he loves the science school--a friend's daughter went to our state's and loved every minute!
