Bringing Back the Corsage

I just realized how easy it is to make a corsage--as long as you have a flower and some tape, even if it's just gaffer tape from the Composer's bin. On Sunday I wore one of my Mother's Day roses just by wrapping tape around its stem, along with a sprig of fern and a rosebud from Bella's casual bouquet.

For centuries, women wore flowers all the time, for no occasion. I'm ready to bring that back!

Wow - and it didn't wilt? Or the petals drop? Very pretty.

My mother usually wears a flower... most favorite memory: little sprigs of Lily of the Valley in season.

Nice! My stepmother has established "corsages on Easter for the ladies." I am a fan of the tiny bouquet, more than the corsage (I had my mother carry a tiny bouquet at our wedding--seemed more fresh and modern, and sweet), but a corsage keeps the hands free! Wearing flowers is a wonderful idea.

It's beautiful! I remember helping my friend with flowers for her wedding. It really is so easy--people just don't think about doing it themselves.

I agree. That's one I would love to see make a comeback. Along with many others!

I was just thinking this morning of many beautiful practices that were still being practiced when my older sisters were young. They are all 14 to 22 years older than me.

I'm in my 50s but I remember them wearing white gloves when getting dressed up.

Wearing flowers would be lovely.

As soonas there are fresh flowers out side, I take them to church every Sunday. Well, as long as I don't have a baby on my lap. I am enjoying it extra much right now bc in about 5 weeks this excuse of a lap is supposed to turn out a baby.
When I moved to this community the ladies were not used to seein such beauty at church. Now, they love it and come to check out my flower of the day. But none of them have taken my lead. Sad.
Keep it up!! I say if we can't take the beauty of God with us to church what is the value of the beauty??

how lovely! Only one mother was wearing a corsage at church on Mother's Day and it brought back such memories for me.

I agree with wearing flowers! One of my favorite parts of Anne of Green Gables is how the girls deck themselves with flowers when they're dressing up.

Isn't it funny how many things we realize are not hard to do, but the market has been taken over with convenience products and services? I remember distinctly the day when I was a newlywed and I realized that you could make iced tea starting with hot tea, not powder or opening a jug!

I wear freash flowers in my hair from our flower beds all the time. Everyone loves them and tells me how much they enjoy them. All the little girls love for me to bend down so they can touch and smell my flower. :)

I learned to make them years ago and, like you, was surprised how simple it is.

I vote yes on women wearing flowers "just because". Can we put hats on that list of pretty things to bring back?
