In the Vintage Kitchen: Dinner on Friday

Meat loaf (supposed to be served cold, but I thought not)
Fried potatoes (always a yes, especially with my new-found love for my classic electric skillet!)
Sauteed cabbage
Cucumber spears and tomato slices
Oatmeal cookies and diced cantaloupe (I used the melon instead of the applesauce the menu called for, since I had it, and I must confess I added chocolate chips to the cookies!)

Ah, we had meatloaf tonight, too! But with garden green beans & corn on the cob, and tomato slices.

Anna-
I am LOVING this series. I'm hoping I can get lucky and find a copy of this cookbook somewhere. I'm wondering if my grandmother had it- she was a cookbook collector with many vintage treasures and her home was recently cleaned when she passed away (sadly I moved 1000 miles away and was not around to salvage any of these precious gems!) Thanks for these wonderful posts!!! So very very inspiring!!!

In Christ,
Dawn

Another beautiful meal. I've lots of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from my garden right not...just can't get enough of them. I may need to make some meatloaf tonight, after reading this post.

Funny, we had meatloaf, sliced tomatoes, green beans, and fried potatoes tonight. I cooked the meatloaf in the crock pot while we were at your house.

We had meatloaf last night too, but I like your sides better!

I had to laugh at your comment about cold meatloaf because the only time I ever eat it warm is when it first comes out of the oven! Leftover meatloaf is my absolute favorite.

Are those the same oatmeal cookies that you have listed at the bottom of the post for the recipe? They look really good!
