An Inspiring Linen Apron
Moving my stash into my new shelves I've uncovered some forgotten treasures. Like this bit of vintage embroidery. Thought it would make the perfect overlay to a linen apron.
Long calico ties pick up the bright colors,
and it's finished off with some co-ordinating rickrack. I'll be putting it in my shop soon.
Lately I've gotten excited again about all the linen that's available at the thrift store. Those straight linen dresses of ten years ago yield the best fabric. Don't overlook it!

Beautiful & Creative! I never thought to look at clothing from the thrift store to reuse...hmm, time to go shopping I think!

i love it! especially the rickrack and embroidery :)
You have inspired me to "seek and find" ...and I have! You are right- there are a ton of those linen dresses from the 90's around and the fabric is gorgeous.
I recently nominated you for the Sisterhood Award.

Also, I nominate Pleasant View Schoolhouse! I recently posted about how much I love her vintage 40's and 50's dresses. She shares her creative sewing, gardening and her daughter's cooking projects. She's a very talented photographer too.
Love the apron!
It is a well-trained eye for thrift that can scan the bunched racks of hemlines and spot those flax linen beauties!
Ah! The power in a suggestion!

Totally agree - linen is the most beautiful fabric.
Love what you did with the apron.
What a great idea! Now I know where to look for fabric, thanks! And the apron looks nice.
How adorable!
That has got to be the cutest apron I've ever seen. Your creativeness astounds me!
I think I have those exact same shoes-L.L. Beane?
Very sweet Anna! I love finding vintage material and clothing at thrift stores along with linens :)
Have a beautiful day!

I love it. The rickrack pattern is gorgeous.
I am on the hunt for thrifted linen too - but all the linen shift dresses I've found so far have princess seams, or so it seems! I did find two dandy linen shirts with big blank backs - perfect for monogram pillow tops! Linen just is a dream to sew!
