This Is the Gray
Adoring these new walls. This gray is totally context dependent. It is dark in the corners of the room. It is pale on the broad expanse of the north wall.
It looks amazing with red, pink, orange, brown, hydrangea blue, plum. And sparkly crystal things. What does it not look good with?
We ended up with Gray Horse from Benjamin Moore.
Thank you Giles!

Whenever I am looking for beautiful, tasteful colors, I always go to the Benjamin Moore store because ALL of their colors are a feast for the eyes. I never once have made a paint choice disaster.
On the other hand, I'm currently enjoying Valspar's "Churchhill Hotel Hazy Yellow" in my new house because we have large trees that make it gloomy in the house. It's a "historic" color ~ not too orange, not too green... a "perfect" buff, calm, neutral, pleasant yellow. Everyone who has seen it has said, "Aaaaahhh.. what a wonderful color!"
Thanks for sharing,

Married daughter and husband will move into their new home on Saturday.
They must have 20 cans of Benjamin Moore paint cans in the pantry. They are partial to the pearl finish. Their bedroom is the most changeable shade of gray. They love it.
Beautiful. I will remember this one when next we move :) What an artistic family you have.
Pure simplicity at its best. I love the color, and your windows. We currently live in a cave, not really, an apartment. The walls dazzle me with the most dramatic, flat, dirt showing, white paint. Maybe at our next duty station we will buy again... Who knows. Until then I will admire your wonderful choice in colors, and warm cozy home.

Just lovely, soft, sophisticated, embracing!

Lovely, and the floor is great too! I love the color you picked. With those big, long windows and all that light you made the right choice!
Perfectly lovely!
Wow, it really looks great! Perfect color choice. GORGEOUS!
VERY nice.
Oooh, beautiful. Peaceful and serene. Love it!
Oooh, I just drool over the pictures of your home. It is always so beautiful and so deliciously vintage. Kudos friend!

Our bedroom has been Benjamin Moore's Harbor Gray for 5 years. I L-O-V-E it. So soothing, and though I pair it with whites in summer and blues in winter, it has also been known to get together with chocolate browns quite successfully. I love gray!
I know this has nothing to do with your lovely painted room, however, I just wanted you to know that I am currently listening to "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" on cd and it is fabulous. I do hope you included it in Clara's studies.
I love the look of the clapboard walls (and ceiling)! Wondering ~ is that original of with schoolhouse or is there sheetrock/insulation under it? I love the look and my husband tells me a house built like that has no fire "barrier" and would go up like a matchstick house. I still love the look! Is this construction drafty in the winter?
The room looks G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S.
This room was not original to the schoolhouse--it is constructed opening onto the stage, and it sits where a tiny piano room used to sit. It's made of very rough cedar planks which were reclaimed from a hotel (very old). The termite-chewed ceiling beams came from there or from a cabin, I can't remember. The walls actually do have insulation in them!
love the color, love the room & the windows!! We just painted our master bedroom in BM Horizon Gray and love it!
Somehow photographers just know the perfect color for the light. It must be their "eye". Love the grey.
