A Thrifted Quilt Top, Quilted

A superfluously wonderful thrift shop find: this quilt top in perfect condition, hand-pieced. Last week I put it together with a back and the batting and machine-quilted it in an afternoon.

*Such* a satisfying project! I love the mad colors--the black, the fuschia, the deep yellow. Someone had a flashy scrap box!

It's not random, and I'm sure it has a name, being made of concentric diamonds working outwards from the center.

That would certainly brighten up any room.

Trip Around the World? If it starts in a center square, with diamonds around that square radiating outwards, that should be it.

I've a lone-star type top also found at a thrift store - similarly hand pieced. It's been sitting in my sewing pile for several years for the same reason the original maker probably let it go - the rows are pastel solids, alternating with plain muslin. I can't for the life of me figure out what to use for the setting squares. Ah. Someday I'll figure it out...

Looks like a Boston Commons quilt to me. Very nice

It's Around the World with the diamonds. Trip Around the World is squares. :)

I remember this because I love the Around the world (it's a twenties pattern) and my mom keep making speed-pieced trip Around the World, which is slightly different.

Excellent find.

Triple garments, I think!

Beautiful! Out of curiosity, was the quilt pieces in strips, row by row, or was one block inset into another?
