Where is that sewing room? I want to go THERE!
That phrase has long been a favorite of mine.. ever since a little girl when I first read the book, I always knew I wanted a sewing room like that. I have been fortunate to have always had a sewing space.. never upstairs.. but in my new house, it is the palest shade of pink, and right next to the kitchen.. I cannot wait to move into it.
I feel I've missed out by not reading Mrs. Piggle-WIggle because I would so love that phrase floating through my head at particularly rough moments during the day!
I love that book...so many inspiring glimpses into another era.
I am decorating my sewing room this coming week. Now I am even more inspired. I love your blog by the way.
Ahhhhh.....now I can sit back, relax, close my eyes and think of that snippet you just posted and let the pictures form in my mind.

Have you read Betty MacDonald's book, Nancy and Plum ? I think you might just enjoy that one. It's my all time favorite. :) I was raised on the island where Betty wrote a few of her books. Such lasting memories. ;)

I am just longing for a quiet space to sew and time to do it - I hope one day soon to learn to order my days to make room for more joyful productive activities, as you have!
I wanna know how come no sounds of quarreling were coming from downstairs. Was it because she had imaginary kids, had those novel-type well-behaved kids or because she SHUT the door? If it's the door, then I need a door. A big, solid, wooden door, I don't care if there is a sewing machine on my side or not! Maybe I should read the book?? Thanks for the inspiration....it gives me hope....
I love that book and just read about "The Heedless Breaker" to my 2 boys last night! Ah,what great memories.
