Daisy's Winter Wardrobe, Dress Two

We used the same pattern, but this time in an interesting gingham variation. See the tiny twists in the fabric? It almost looks like the fabric has been smocked in a diamond pattern. A little optical illusion.

Rickrack at the collar, vintage blue buttons, and most especially, long sleeves with "a little puff at the top."

Apparently this part of Betsy-Tacy and Tib was just too good.

Adorable dress! Ratty little blanket....not so much. :) I am saying this with a big smile....I know all about the love of ratty little blankets....only one has emerged from a quilt I have made...oh the disappointments in life. :)
May Daisy have many more years of comfort from her blanket! :)

What I love the most about this post and the other one that you wrote about Daisy's winter wardrobe, is that when she opened her heart, and expressed all that she wanted, you took her childish ideas, and made them a reality for her. You are so ready to support your kids. And so as wonderful as your sewing is (and it is amazing!!), better yet, what amazes me, is your faith in their dreams.

Hmmmm, I have not read the Betsy, Tacy and Tib books to my daughter (same age as Daisy) yet. We are still working through Little House but I'm inspired to bring them out. I LOVE them and a dear friend who knew this gave me a set of out of print ones when I found out we were expecting a little girl, I've been saving them for when the time is right. Thanks for the nudge, the time is right and Faith has a little dress similar to this so I think we're all set!

I just love having you back blogging!

You say the diamond are opitcal illusion? Completely? I am not getting how that can be.

I think your children have incredible parents. Their dreams are realized in such... seemingly gentle ways. Treasure!

Would you allow an older woman to tell an old blanket story?
Our son to his grandmother: "Gamma, I know why Joey (pseudonym)calls it his "banky"...
Grandma: Why, honey?
Son: Because he can't say "banklet".
I'm happy to report that "Joey" and "son" are now in their mid 20's and each is clear on the pronunciation of "blanket".
