Glass Domes

These glass domes, which are all over magazine pages, are also over the thrift store for just pennies. They truly are lovely and I've started picking them up when I'm shopping, after being inspired by my artistic sister-in-law who does the most elaborate, layered visual stories in hers.

Of course, mine at this point just hold a rock and a sprig. But I'm thinking of becoming a more complicated person!

I love these things! I struggle to be creative, however, so mine just stack up waiting to be used.

Perhaps this will inspire me to at least put a pretty rock underneath one.

No Anna - stay simple - there are too many complicated people in this world. We need people like you to de-clutter our lives!

I love domes and clear jars!

Have you seen these floral arrangements under glass? http://www.hgtv.com/decorating/plants-and-flowers-under-glass/index.html

I have started collecting domes as well. Unfortunately, there aren't many in thrift stores here in the Desert Southwest....

Not too complicated, I hope. I think it's your simplicity we all admire so much!

Honestly, I would love to find out where your thrift stores are. You find the best things there! Ours never have anything nearly as nice in them!

Anna, I love them but they are so expensive...lucky you ! Cinzia

When I consider
the age of that rock,
a glass-domed display is quite
appropriate.

There is beauty in simplicity.

How lucky - I have looked and looked for the glass domes at reasonable prices but I can't seem to find some.
I love yours! And I love creating stories in my house too! The glass dome immediately elevates its object.

Another thing I want to find is a good big glass container to make a covered garden with the houseplant baby's tears.

Well - they look perfect the way they are, even without layers. I love the minimalist look.

Love it. I have a bird's nest, a wasp's nest, and lots of rocks and sticks (all compliments of my darling sons) that would look appropriately priceless under a dome or two. Adding that to my Goodwill wish list!

My 10yo son would think your rock under a dome the most amazing thing ever.

We find his little rock collections in the door handle well on his side of the car.

I would love it if my thrift stores had glass domes. But alas...

Please enjoy the simplicity!

Yours are so lovely...you're right, you can find them on the cheap at thrift stores. Waaay too expensive in the catalogs or gift shops. I like to use the domes from old cheese trays (or whatever they were called)...one of those over a pretty china plate..perfect!

The first thought that sprang to mind when I finished reading was "oh I hope not!" : )

I come here for the simplicity. It is refreshing and restorative.
