Pillowcases from Nothing
The pillowcases all wore out, like yesterday. I knew this day was coming, it's why I had bought a big piece of white cotton sheeting. I wish I could cut an even number of pillowcases out of it instead of five, but oh well.
At least they're crisp and new and don't have holes. And I can embroider them.
Thrifted embroidery transfer and thread and hoop and floss and probably needle also. I love making something from nothing!

Oh how lovely! I'm doing the same to my pillowcases too! And I'm doing my borders of flowers in almost a cobalt blue! Simple beauty!

What patience and perspicacity you have. I 'sides to middle' my linen sheets when they wear out, but I've never thought to make my own pillowcases let alone embroider them.

I love this! Right now I'm laid up from surgery, working on my own embroidery project for a blanket. I think pillowcases will be my next project now!

Going through your archives and seeing your embroidery inspired me to give it a try. I've cross-stitched enough to feel confident in stepping out and giving this a try. I just ordered Alicia Paulson's new embroidery book and it should be here any day! I hope to have some crisp white embroidered pillow cases very soon!

They look lovely! Is there anything like fresh, white, pillowcases - I love the feeling, and the 'clean sheet scent' - they always have that lovely scent! The embroidery is perfect - simple and elegant - makes and ordinary pillowcase into something special!

Pardon the humble question, but how do pillowcases wear out? I haven't had this happen. In fact, the fitted sheet loses its elastic before anything else and I chop up the flat sheet for projects. I have pretty orphan pillowcases, but I do buy new sheet sets. I am fascinated by how other people manage their linens - surely I'm not the only one.
