Daisy's Third Lesson

What she's working on now:

Accepting that she won't play things perfectly the first time.

Names of notes.

Growing her legs out a little.

Is Daisy still working on cello, as well?

Daisy's stockings are quite fetching! Precious moments!

Accepting That It Won't Be Perfect The First Time is so hard to learn--I'm working on that one with my son (not on piano but on other tasks and things). Tell her to keep it up. I started at that age and was playing pretty fluently by the time I stopped my lessons, 8 years later!

Love the socks shot.

Oh how sweet. And how very exciting for Daisy.

I suppose Dad is teaching her - my father tried to teach me keyboard, but it didn't quite work out, alas.
I hope she'll really enjoy being able to play.

Kristen, Daisy outgrew her little cello, and just didn't seem interested enough for us to buy her the next size up. On the other hand, she's had a continuing interest in the piano, so we're going that direction.

Lisa, we're lucky to have a piano teacher that comes to the house and teaches both Daisy and Bella. I love not having to go to a lesson!

don't you love a child this age discovering piano! our little 6 year old began in September, and is flying through her lessons, always trying to be one piece ahead of her last lesson! Wish the 11 year old was still as motivated :)

I love the sox - and I suppose they'll coordinate perfectly with each and every one of the garments in her "fall collection"? BTW, have you ever seen the DVD series "The House of Eliot"? It's about 2 sisters in the 1920's who begin a fashion house, initially of necessity after the death of their father, but it mushrooms. Such a mushroom. It was available at our public library - multiple episodes. Lots of footage of women sewing, fitting, doing stuff with fabric, etc.

Love seeing you at that lesson in one of those fall fashions and delightful stockings!! Who knows, might see you performing in a Grand Hall someday!!!

i LOVE that foot photo. =) and i remember those feelings of frustration not too many lessons into my piano journey. i started when i was 6, and i'm now 24. piano is such a part of me...and this post brought back such memories! i also complained to my mother that my teacher must not be very good -- i was still playing one note at a time after a few lessons, of course. i rather thought i should be playing like my mother and uncle, both of whom had YEARS of experience. haha patience and hard work pay off, though. i now play more advanced than does my mother, and i have been compared to my uncle several times. best wishes to daisy for embarking on this endeavor!!

"Accepting that she won't play things perfectly the first time."

My oldest is a music major in college and is still working on this one. It's also the worst part of my 9-year-old's on-going trumpet-learning experience.

I guess I needed to work harder on teaching it as a general life principle!
