Forsythia in a Chilly Week

Windy, chilly, rainy--we've lit the wood stove again, just when I thought we'd had our last fire. But the forsythia is in bloom!

It looks a little startling to see forsythia in bloom. My own plants are still half-buried in snow. I nearly lost sight of them entirely with all the snow we've had this winter. Hard to imagine that they'll be blooming in a few weeks. Enjoy your spot of sunshine!

Isn't forsythia such a bright spot of 'sunshine' on these not-quite-Spring days? Rains are heading our way late tomorrow... think I'll grab some lilac and forsythia branches to bring inside before the storms begin.

Isn't it lovely that so many late winter/early spring flowers are yellow? Simulated sunshine!

So lucky! We don't even have a single crocus peeking out yet. I think I'll cut some forsythias today and force them, to keep our spirits up through the ugly weather we're having this week.

So jealous! I love forsythia - but we've got weeks if not months before it will bloom in NE Lower Michigan.

Yes, bright yellow is perfect for rainy weather!

What a beautiful sight! All we have blooming is our pussywillows. But they are very pretty, so I'm happy!

We don't have the forsythia yet, but the pussy willow is braving the last snowflakes of the season here in KY! And The Willow has put her pearls on to greet spring in just 10 days!

Whoo-Hoo!
