"The Other Loaves"

"The odor of the fresh bread was floating all about her. On the clean new shelf that ran across one side of the kitchen stood the other loaves across their pans to cool, beside the sponge cake and pies."

I was just watching the Homestead Blessings dvd about breadmaking - I'm determined to start baking bread regularly!

I have begun using your recipe, being sure to not shy away from hot water for the yeast - and every time they turn out beautifully!

Your bread looks wonderful; may you enjoy it with lots of butter and fresh jam!

You're loaves turned out perfectly! Do you use a bread machine. For years I have used my Zojirushi and love it!

Across their *pans* to cool... of course! I struggle with finding space on my counter for the cooling racks, but no more. Thank you!

I am reading Honor Girl right now! I just finished Silver Wings. I absolutly adore all of Mrs. G.L. Hill quotes!

I suppose I shouldn't put a bread recipe up and use that quote now! ;) Looks like you beat me to it!

I bet your house smelt fabulous. Enjoy.

why have I never seen/realized I could cool the bread across its pans??! Lightbulb! thank you. That's a lovely photo, too.

Oh lovely bread! Appreciate the quote too. I am in the process of waiting for my weekly batch to rise so I can go to bed... it is late here and I wish now I had started my bread earlier in the day. I must say, it is a job I deeply love... making all my families bread that is.

Honor Girl is one of my favorite Grace Livingston Hill books! I re-read it every year or so. The bread looks delicious! I have been making all of our bread this year, and we will never go back to store boughten.
