Auditioning in the Living Room

Time to tape the college auditions. The Composer is so good at that type of thing, and has the equipment--I always wonder how other families get it done.

I love this screen shot; it looks like Clara is doing some sort of cello grand jete, so beautifully.

Back in the olden days when I was auditioning, we used a tape recorder. That's how we got it done!

I don't think I'm THAT old, but how things have changed! ;-)

I wish we had some audio to go with this blog post; it would be a delight to hear Clara play.

Stunning shot!

So Clara will be studying music at college/uni? Maybe that seems obvious but I wasn't sure that she would.

I had to travel to the campus, and buy an extra seat on the plane for my cello. It wasn't optimal!

This photo looks like it could be a painting. (And I noticed she mimics the painting on the wall behind her.) Lovely room, lovely colors, lovely girl.

And there's a picture in the background of the same pose!

That is a beautiful, elegant photo!

I have always admired cellists - so graceful, the instrument and the player. I love the sound too.

My daughter (also a cello player)wondered if the camera caught Clara sliding up to her harmonic...uh, I've heard that terminology, but don't know what it is. I guess cello players understand those things! Best of luck to Clara. :o)

When I did my college auditions I only needed sound, not video. We borrowed some equipment from a friend who ran a business which needed fancy sound equipment! (And I was fortunate to be able to complete most of my auditions in person.) Later when I did my grad school auditions, I was fortunate to have a friend who was a film major and was willing to help me out with his camera, microphones, and editing skills.

Best wishes to Clara in her auditions! It was a simultaneously exciting and scary time for me :-)

Best of luck on the auditions! My first college was sound only, then I was videoed there for my transfer. Grad school, I travelled in person, and that was FUN! Travel with a cello by train.
