Felix Gets a Hat

Felix hit the hat jackpot when my mother offered her father's carefully stored (original Dobbs hatbox) hat. Everyone who knew my grandfather knew the hat; he wore it every day.

It's the exact color of Felix's eyes and he'd been wanting a real hat.

Later, that same weekend, he found these shoes at the thrift store for $1.50. Giles looked them up when they got home. Apparently they are $400 Italian leather loafers. Who in this town buys those--and more to the point--who gives them to the thrift store?

Well, they've found a good home now.

Dapper young man.

Everything old
is new again.

It's a satisfying lifestyle,
isn't it?

Looks great on him. This brings back memories for me. My Uncle had a hat like that. He would be 100, if he were alive today.

That's so cool that your Mother saved it for so long. My 13 year old son loves his entire outfit.

Love it! Driving around with my children, we often have to pass the local city high school. There are always teenage boys loitering about no matter the time of day. Some are dressed in the oversized, baggy "gangsta" clothing and some are dressed in the goth style. Some are punk. Some are emo. I look at them sadly and implore my son to never ever dress like them. He says, "don't worry, mommy, I won't!" Although, he doesn't like it when I tuck his shirts in. Then again, what 5 year old can keep their shirts tucked?

We need more young men like Felix who know how to nicely dress! Bravo!!! (And I love thrift store shopping for the reason that you never know what treasures may await you there! I've never snagged as fabulous of a deal as Felix did to this date. Maybe someday! In the meantime, I'm pretty happy with what I do find. ;-) )

I'm sure that Felix has his own favorite blogs, but in case he doesn't know of this one, may I suggest "An Affordable Wardrobe"?

I have found it very valuable as I have searched for great quality thrifted menswear for the men in my family.
