Daisy's Newsbag
That's Daisy's newsbag you see cross-body. She keeps it on her person much of the time, in case there's news and she needs to write it down.
She specializes in Animal News (in fact, she has a whole office devoted to this on my sewing room floor. It takes up a lot of room, and involves lots of little boxes).
The biggest Animal News story of late is the new, gigantic cat that's been hanging around the kitchen door. I must confess I love him. He's just so big! Felix named him Fitzwilliam, and he's getting neutered tomorrow, right here in the kitchen (thanks, Dr. M!). I'm not sure he would even fit in my cat carrier, he's that big.
I'm sure that will go in the Animal News tomorrow.
And from the obituary page . . .
It was a chickadee.
She is just precious!

Oh, my word. I could die she's so darling. My daughters love to write. One keeps journals filled with lists and book passages and names of people and fictional letters to kings and princes. I may have to show her this post.
ReplyDeleteThat's just gorgeous Anna! I would love to subscribe to Animals News please...
ReplyDeleteDaisy has always melted my heart. She's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what she'd have to say about the grey cat who comes and cries LOUDLY on our back deck. At 3am.
Miss Daisy Girl Reporter!
ReplyDeleteMy heart actually stopped for a moment when I saw the bird grave, and scrolled down to read chickadee instead of Frederick. Phew! Still sad, of course. Chickadees are one of my favorite birds.
ReplyDeleteGosh I can't wait to hear what profession Daisy takes up! And I definitely need a news bag myself, one that my clunky camera can also fit in. Love the juxtaposition of the obits and the births (prevention).
ReplyDeleteI love the beauty and innocence of Daisy's age,and the personal touch she brings to it is endearing.
ReplyDelete"Stray Cat Neutered in the Kitchen of Pleasant View Schoolhouse, the rest of the story on page 3."
ReplyDeleteWe'll be expecting pictures of this fellow. He gets along with Lucy? Our vet told us the female cat would keep the upper hand, and that's true with Dolly and Henry, for sure.
How nice to have a vet who comes to the house!
I see journalism college in her future!
ReplyDeleteDaisy is so cute!
ReplyDeleteBut I must confess....I really want to see a picture of that big kitty. We had to say good-bye to our kitty 2 years ago...and my girls haven't stopped pining for him yet...
Now Daisy just needs a typewriter and she can be Kit Kitteredge. Every year at this time when I see that your daffodils are blooming, I wonder.."What am I doing living up north?". Sigh, I am ready for Spring.

Oh, you had me worried about Frederick. But it's a shame about the chickadee, just the same.
ReplyDeleteIs that girl for real? Did you snatch her out of a Beatrix Potter book? :)
ReplyDeleteShe is a doll. "Fitzwilliam Alerts!" is so cute! Is she reading something that instigated this? I went through an intense Girl Detective phase, based on my reading.....
ReplyDeleteAnd a cat getting neutered in the kitchen? That has been cracking me up all day.
Well, the laugh is on me today--Fitzwilliam didn't show up at all until after dark. We'll try again on Monday afternoon. I swear this cat knew what I was planning!
