A Flared Dress for Spring: Vintage Simplicity 1291

Our truly mild winter has got me sewing things for spring already. Daisy loves this new Vintage Simplicity 1291. It has a gently-gathered bodice, flaring gored skirt, and piped decorative tab.

And even better than owning a new spring dress is that happy day when it's warm enough to wear it outside!

This comment has to do with the jersey rug you crocheted back in January. I know you used pieces that were left over from another project, but you also do buy from the Thrift Store and I didn't know if you knew of this way to take apart T-shirts. On the Martha Stewart show yesterday they showed you how to take apart a T-shirt and make strips all in one long piece (they were making pom-poms though). Here is the link for the project, but if you can watch the video somehow it would be easier to see how it's done. (but then you could probably just read the directions and understand it yourself)! http://www.marthastewart.com/892788/t-shirt-yarn-pom-poms
Thank you for sharing.

Really cute! How Daisy will enjoy wearing this, I'm sure. :o) The colors remind me of a movie I just watched recently: "State Fair" (filmed in 1947, I think?). The kitchen scene with Mrs. Frake & Margie...those colors are exactly the same!

The pattern came in a big box of assorted vintage patterns that a reader, actually, sent me as a gift!
