Alabama Studio Style: Gray on Gray
I'm using the "Angie's Fall" stencil on a cotton-bamboo blend from Hancock's. The fabric paint is "Tin Foil" from the airbrush supply section at Hobby Lobby.
One of the most challenging parts of working with jersey is the tendency of the edges to roll before they are sewn together. Here I am basting the top and lining together by hand around the edges. I find that laying the pieces out on a towel allows the terrycloth to help grip the edge and hold it in place to some extent.
Then once I get the pieces sewn together the curling isn't a problem anymore.

I love the stencil motifs, the stitching outline, and the subtle shadings of color. Beautiful.
Do you use airbrushing to paint? It is beautiful!
I just use a sponge! And a little paint squirted out on a saucer. It's all very low-tech.
Anna, what was your process for getting the [right size] stencil in large enough a piece to avoid laying it over newly painted sections as you worked across the fabric? Are you planning to reverse appliqué this piece? It's beautiful! --Vija
Vija, I cut one large stencil which is just large enough to lay over the bottom half of one pattern piece. It's made from two pieces of mylar packing-taped together.
That's lovely. Carol L.
Oh that's beautiful...I love how muted the colors are.
ooooh ~ you know I love it :-) can't wait to see more as you progress!
(still hoping you'll do some videos of the different stitches ;-)
The colour scheme is beautiful. It would not be so beautiful without all the beautiful colours surrounding them, but you always have an eye for colours, it seems, so it all goes together.
