Matty's Window Log Cabin Quilt, Finished

This quilt was commissioned on behalf of a very young man with very strong opinions about what makes a quilt acceptable. It should not, for instance, have anything babyish in it. It should not look like it was made for a girl.

Squares are the best, but they can be built out of rectangles.

I like to think that I achieved all of that, and that I did it with love.

I think it's a slam-dunk! Beautiful quilt. Hilarious parameters.

The wuilt looks like it would tick all of those boxes Anna. Sounds like Matty would like LEGO.

it's gorgeous ... no, it's handsome (?)

... I've actually searched far and wide for just such a quilt for my younger boys. Unsuccessfully.

I think I might have to get one of those! My husband and I would love it! How often does a woman get to decorate and make both her and her husband happy.
Love your blog.

That quilt is fabulous! I almost said "beautiful", but it's not the least bit girly. Stunning!

O yes - I would concur... they are the hardest to please little men... my slightly older man demands that there be absolutely NO FLORAL prints too if you please... so I've saved up daddy's old shirts and bedsheets and used them... manly colours - http://flepandco.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/a-more-grown-up-quilt.html

It's in the 90s here, yet Matty doesn't dream of giving up his quilt. Yes, he's most picky about nothing babyish in the least, he's a big boy, not a baby after all.

But, this strange little family works, and our sweet little guy has a quilt that was made with love and will go with him for the rest of his life.

Ahh, that's so nice to hear!

Anna,

Matty's quilt has held up beautifully! 4 years of being loved by a little boy. It's certainly earned some stains, but he adores his quilt. Perfect for a rather selective boy who now has his big boy room painted in the soft blue of the center squares.
