"The Simplicity of Good Taste"
" . . . She now knew what one ought to wear and exactly how to accomplish it on a very small income. She had learned that the most expensive models almost invariably chose lines of simplicity, both in cut and decoration, and therefore she had been enabled to select from among the cheaper garments, those which followed this simplicity of good taste."--Grace Livingston Hill, Crimson Roses

This is my most favorite of GLH. I re-read it every few years just to feel the innocence of life in another time.
GLH always knew exactly how to turn a phrase.
You can quote from her all day long as far as I'm concerned.
:-)
Thanks for quoting from one of my favorites! I re-read this one every year during December. ;-)

I know you're far away, but I thought you'd enjoy knowing that Cairn University in Langhorne PA has a special exhibit of GLH things in its library. I spent my 14th summer reorganizing my church library, reading every GLH book published along the way, and it always makes me happy when you feature a quote from one of her books.
Love this quote!
I'm sure you're at that point, Anna; where you can spend little on your wardrobe, and you know what looks well on you.

Lisa, I wish I got it right every time!
