Big Breath Out
First the State Department announced that Americans should stay out of Cusco until at least the end of the month. No biggie, unless you just got there. So, no going out after dark, no speaking English loudly in public (not that Felix is speaking English there, I know it's all Spanish and his two new phrases of Quechua, but I know it's loud!).
Then Giles called this morning in a voice I could hardly understand to report that he'd just been violently rear-ended on his way home from Maine, and was missing a front tooth (actually it wasn't missing, later the doctors found it IN HIS LOWER LIP where it was no longer useful). The accident was not his fault--he was stopped for construction and an elderly driver plowed into him. I choose to see God's mercy in the fact that the injuries weren't worse.
The three girls in the back seat were somehow unharmed (thank you LORD) and all of them are being put up in a local church's guesthouse (after the volunteer EMT handed them a business card and explained that he was the pastor and they had a place to stay and food to eat).
So. Big breath out. God is good.
And there's another table runner in the shop. If you're from Maine, I'm going to give you a 25% discount to thank you Yankees for your hospitality to my boy.

Nice, nice table runner! As for the rest of it, how nerve-wracking. Will keep them both in my prayers.

Praying for your dear boys!!!
Blessings~

This is almost TOO much for a mama to deal with in one day! I'm praising God with you that your son was not hurt more. I am praying that both of your boys will be ok.
Oh my, Anna! I gasped as I read this post. Tonight I'm praising God for His protection...and asking Him to continue giving it!!
God is good, so merciful to bring help when you need it. I have friends in ministry in Peru, but not sure where. Praying for both your guys. For you all.
BIG, HUGE breath out. I heard it, right here in my studio in Manila.
God love you. God love them. God, You're our protector and provider.
His traveling mercies are as ever faithful as His fresh, new morning's mercies.
*hugs* to all,
Kelley~
Oh, Anna! We are praying for you, and praising with you. Much love from Robin and Emma in California.
Oh my. I'm praying for your boys and thanking God for His protection.
Oh my mama heart is praying for you all! My family is split among continents and coincidentally my daughter and I were rear ended by a tractor/trailer last month. It is a terrifying accident. I am so sorry Giles was injured. Thank goodness for modern dentistry. : /
Oh Anna! God is good indeed in protecting Giles from further harm and protecting the girls from injury. I'm sure they'll be a blessing to those they stay with up in Maine, as they are blessed by them.
I hope you're able to keep in contact with Felix during this time, and can trust God's care of him without too much worry. x
Holey Moley! That was an eventful weekend for all of you! I'll keep your boys (and their friends) in my prayers.
I just love that the EMT was a pastor. God has His ways, doesn't he?
I will say prayers for the boys! I am so glad that the car accident was not worse.
You are at a stage in life that I hope I can navigate gracefully. With a 5 year old and 2 year old my children are in my sight and under my guidance/protection almost 24-7. I like this--probably too much! I know 'letting go' is an art. But God loves our children even more than we do.....
Wow! that's a little TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT.
Oh, those phone calls from our children can sure cause the heart to stop for a second! So glad everyone is good, and there are still good people around that God places in the paths of our children.
How horrible for you...even with God's grace hard things are hard. I have a terrible fear of being rear ended anytime we must stop for construction sites because so many people drive while distracted or should not even be behind the wheel. God--helps both these boys please--keep them safe and give them great wisdom and healing as needed.
Prayers of protection for Felix and healing for Giles. And for comfort for you and your family while your loved ones are away from you.
Praise God everyones safe and alive! There is so much to be thankful for. Deep breathing. Yes. I must practice it myself;) (6 kids)
Keeping your family in prayer, Christina
Omnipresent! So thankful that God is with our children when we can't be.
Praying for you and the children.
By Grace Alone,
Kim
Oh my....wow. Yes indeed, breathing normally, breathing normally.
Prayers for both your guys, Anna.

Poor Giles, I'm so glad that he's okay and that the passengers were too, please update us when you can.
As for Felix -- soft spanish only!
Mainah--thanks for your sweet note--and thanks to all of you who offered help or contacts. What a sweet crowd you are!
Anna, I live in Sabattus, Maine and hope that if he is close I could help. Please know prayers are with you and your family. Glad some Mainers were able to help and give the hospitality that was needed... God Bless...Tracey
I'll say a prayer for both of your boys.
I especially feel for you with regard to the tooth problem. My dd fell on ice and chipped her tooth (badly - over 1/2 lost!) three weeks after her university semester started this fall. We are only now getting the crown finished up, etc. It can be surprisingly difficult to take care of these things with out of network insurance issues, no private transportation, etc.
So glad to hear that the Mainers came through for all concerned. I've always had a *thing* for Maine! (And Peru, too!) :) :)
Oh sweet friend! Praying for the boy and his two friends! Lord thank you for giving this momma the grace to see your hand in this situation! We praise you for your mercies are new every morning! Thank you for the wonderful people that embraced Giles and the girls, taking care of them. You are so GOOD, Jesus!

Sometimes I think it was easier when they were little and I just had to make certain they didn't run out into the street. :)
Praying for both your boys!
Prayers from Hong Kong. Sounds like this has been some week, but that you have the strength to handle it.
Best wishes for your boys, and glad things are no worse.
