"If You Are Patient and Paying Attention"
"Most of us figure out by a certain age . . . that life unspools in cycles, some lovely, some painful, but in no predictable order. So you could have lovely, painful, and painful again, which I think we all agree is not at all fair. . . But if you've been around for a while, you know that much of the time, if you are patient and are paying attention, you will see that God will restore what the locusts have taken away."

Oh, I enjoy Anne Lamott; my best friend was just quoting from this particular book the other day (I haven't read it yet). And of course, it's so true.
I loved your quote from Anne Lamoff.
It immediately made me think of this psalm:
Thou who hast made me see many sore troubles wilt revive me again; from the depths of the earth thou wilt bring me up again. - Psalm 71:20
Insightful Anna. Thank you for the encouragement.
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
I've wondered about Anne Lamott's writings.

I don't usually comment, but thank you for those words. What a beautiful picture. Life has been mostly the painful for the past year, but I love the picture of God as a restorer!
Lisa, sometimes she drives me nuts, and sometimes she hits the nail on the head.
I feel the same way about her! I had to give Operating Instructions away because it was so aggravating to me; I couldn't bear it. But there are nuggets of wisdom peppered throughout her books. If you are patient and pay attention, that is!
Beautiful....
Blessings~

Anne Lamott has the best way of putting complicated experiences into few words. thanks for sharing, I wasn't aware of this book.
I was just thinking of that the other day "The lord will restore what the locusts have eaten."

Wow, this is my life in a nutshell. Thanks for sharing the source.
Beautiful, and just what I needed to read today.
Thank you for posting this quote--after reading it, I went straight to my library website and put in a request. It's been a while since I read any Anne Lamott and I'm looking forward to it!
Powerful words. Thank you.
