Basic Cooking: What to Do With Frozen Salmon

Q: What should I do with these frozen salmon fillets?

A: Heat the oven to 400.

Take the fillets apart and put them in a baking dish, skin side down (if they have skin).

In a small bowl mix a spoonful of olive oil, a spoonful of grainy mustard, and a spoonful of dried thyme. And about 1/2 t. of salt. Spread it on the salmon, and bake uncovered for about 25 minutes. A few minutes less if they are thawed. Poke a piece with a fork to see if if looks cooked all the way through.

They will be tasty and moist.

I'm allergic but make salmon 1-2x/month. This looks easy enough.

I used to bake mine in a similar way, but I brushed tamari soy sauce onto the fillets. Delicious!

Now we either have salmon-quinoa burgers (from canned) or fresh, cooked brilliantly on the stovetop by my husband, who uses fresh lemon juice, olive oil and plenty of garlic!

That sounds very nice. I often buy cod, and will often use bottled dressing of any kind on it if I'm in a hurry. It's always terrific.

Yum! This looks really good. I want to try it soon--we keep frozen fish on hand for easy meal nights!

Hi Anna. Reading your post on recipes reminds me to tell you that I tried your hash brown gluten free quiche this weekend. Really enjoyed it and will be making again. Thank you.

Thanks! We have some in our freezer and I often dawdle about cooking them because the package seems picky about thawing them, (no microwaving!) and doesn't give directions for cooking them frozen. We love salmon, though, and I am glad I can now cook them on a whim, straight from the freezer!

I've had this very question! The package implies that you have to thaw it first. Thanks for the info, and I will make this soon, as I have the salmon already in my freezer!

I tried fixing salmon like this last night, and it was good and moist. Yeah!
