In from Outside
We had our first hard frost, so the ferns are inside. This one will flourish indoors over the winter; it always does. Then it will go outside where I will forget to water it. And then we'll do it all over again.

Until your post I thought a frost was a frost but Google tells me otherwise. I hope you are all warm and cosy.
We just tossed 6 huge Boston ferns. We offered them to a local
nursing home/church/family & friends. No takers--TOO messy. We brought the biggest one in. My husband repotted it in a bigger pot with Miracle GRO potting soil.
We chose a spot away from direct heat or drafts but with nice light exposure. Within days it was shedding & turning crispy brown. We babied it along for several weeks until exasperation
set in. This morning it joined its sisters in the compost pile.
They were so gorgeous this summer
hanging on the porch & in our green only plant bed. Any tips or suggestions on what we might do differently? We did not have room to save them all but would have loved having the one..........
Cake, I don't know what you did wrong! Something inside my house is good for ferns--they put out new growth, make babies, etc. They used to die in our other house, back in the day.
Not so frigid here, yet...no frost yet...we are so far south some winters we don't get any, hard or otherwise.
I've just brought the pelargoniums in. This is a first. They usually have to take their chances outside. I'm surprised to learn that you have had a hard frost before us.
We have only had 1 frost though I've spent so much time in and out of the hospital I may have missed another. I'm glad you got your plant indoors! Plus, it will help with your oxygen function.
