This Year's Lavender
Maybe the best thing going on in my vegetable garden right now is the great big lavender plant growing right by the gate. All the dried buds fall off and get crushed as you walk along, so the whole garden smells heavenly.
How lovely! I am just about to plant lavender--I didn't get to it today (planted foxglove, phlox, periwinkle, ornamental grass); it's waiting until tomorrow!
One of my most poignant memories is driving in the countryside in England in the summer and coming across vast fields of lavender. Oh--glory.
And an attorney I used to work with told me that one of his clients had planted his entire driveway in lavender so that when anyone drove in that's what they smelled. I wonder how it would survive?! But I would love to try......

That sounds like the one in our driveway (in summer). When a passenger gets out of the car we have the same result.
ReplyDeleteAnna I just came from one of my regular blog reads, her post made me think of you.
