Apple Orchard Log Cabin Quilt

I finished this very large quilt this weekend. The quilting lines were so close together that it was a massive undertaking.

The color story I imagined when I pieced it is an apple orchard in September--emphasis on the sky between the last green leaves on the trees. The diagonal quilting hints at the sunshine falling at an autumnal slant.

I backed it with two fabrics I had on hand.

Very lovely, Anna.
The greens are very leafy
And the slanting rays of sunshine evoked by the quilting lines - so nice.

I really admire your thrifty approach to your quilts Anna, it's such an endorsement of the tradition of quilting.

I like the shirt you used for the binding and how it ties to the middle of the blocks. I really like the slant quilting. I know it was hard work but the results are very nice. Candace Posey

Your color choices are always so pleasing to me. I'm inspired to look outside the box of my own limitations.
I would like to know how you baste your quilts. I'm currently hand-basting a crib size quilt but I usually pin baste so this is a bit tedious;I'm working at being cheerful about the process.
