Brown Paper

Once again this year I used brown paper for every gift, and color-coded the ribbons. It's so simple and  cheap and it looks good. I pick up partial rolls of ribbons at the thrift store when I see them. They generally cost a dime.

I do "brown paper packages tied up with string" every year, too. I rip strips of creamy muslin for mine, though I like this idea of color-coding with ribbon colors. No gift tags necessary.

Happy New Year,
Kelley~

I love wrapping with brown paper, too :) and often use jute and little sprigs of tree branches and pine cones to tie them together.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Have a happy day!
Connie :)

You do a beautiful job of fancying up the brown paper. Do you re-use the trims? (I'm guessing probably that's a "yes" :))

I love this too--at the Biltmore in November I loved the display of the servants' gifts--all wrapped in brown paper, and then sprigged with holly and berries! Very festive. I wrote down all my Biltmore Inspiration and that was way up on the list!

But here's a question: do you use kraft paper? I bought some last year to fiddle with for gift wrapping, inspired by beautiful gifts I saw on the Prudent Homemaker website, but it was ungainly and difficult to use. I emailed her and she uses the brown paper out of packages (like, from Amazon) but I'm not that thrifty/inclined/good. So I'm wondering what you used! I may just need to overlook my need for smooth edges and crisp creases.

Anna, I would also be interested in what type of brown paper you use, that wraps well. Can you let us know? (Thinking way ahead for Christmas!)
