Re-Imagining the Compost
It was my friend Carol's idea to use a vintage ice bucket on her countertop as a compost container. Yes, please! I have several elegant ones from the thrift store, they have nice carrying handles, and the lids are easy one-hand off and on. I'm actually using this one for chicken scraps, and I don't even mind seeing it out on the counter.

Your friend Carol has smart ideas!
Oh I LOVE this idea. And just in time too, as we have started a compost pile ourselves.
Brilliant idea! Pretty compost counter-top containers and be so expensive!

That is a lovely idea.
I just utilize a used plastic coffee container, but I keep it in the refrigerator until it's time to dump the kitchen scraps.
Much more elegant than the plastic ice cream buckets I use. Wonderful!
oh my goodness, OF COURSE. I adore those vintage ice buckets and I have one, so I always pass them over at the thrift store. love this!
Good idea! I have a bean pot (that I don't use for baked beans). Your kitchen color makes me think of strawberry ice cream.

What a good idea! Useful AND attractive, a great combination.
I love this idea! I have a round stainless steel container that I use for the kitchen compost, but a vintage ice bucket would definitely be more fun--going to keep my eyes open for one on my next thrift store outing!
