A New Quilt: Leaves of the Trees

"On either side of the river was the tree of life, and the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations."

"There shall no longer be any curse."

"These words are trustworthy and true."

This is a VERY large quilt. Clara and I used the traditional Tree of Life motif to create a landscape of twelve trees with a quilted river running across the quilt (see above).
The main text is embroidered across the two groves of trees, and the secondary texts are embroidered in white, one of each side of the quilt (the part that hangs over the side of the bed).

These verses are all from the last chapter of Revelation. And we made it for Jonathan, who is like a dear third son for us, and is in vet school *and* studying public health.

So much love and beauty in that quilt! Those words give me the good shivers. Are the trees pieced or appliqued? I love looking at them!

What an inspired idea! The white vastness, a few trees, the river of living water, the verses! Knowing nothing of real quilting, I had to look up how to make the flying geese (at least I knew what they were! you seem to like that motif) on youtube. Wonderful.

beautiful quilt. Anna, I was talking to my daughter-in-law about an article you wrote about home-schooling. I can't for the life of me find it. Would you be able to let me know what date you wrote it. I've scrolled through the 'thinking' section....

Hi Anna - that's the one. I've put the link on my blog for anyone 'out there' but specifically for my my daughter-in-law and son who home-school their four children in northern Queensland. Many thanks for getting back to me. And...by the by, I love your blog.
